Sarah Hall MREC Cert. RP
As I work in St Anne's and live in Fleetwood, I had the luxury of
being able to choose from almost every nursery on the Fylde coast . I
visited all the nurseries In Fleetwood, Cleveleys, St Anne's, Lytham and was
not happy to leave my baby at any of them for one reason or another.
I visited Toddle-Inn as a last resort,
I initially had not like the idea of the playground being seen from the
road, but thought I would check out the inside before letting my boss know I
would not be returning to work. The nursery manager opened the door to me
and let me inside and I immediately knew that this nursery was different
from the others. The atmosphere was calm and nurturing and the staff
professional, relaxed and happy. I stayed for three hours on this visit,
getting to know the staff and children and feeling my baby was being
integrated into the nursery at his own speed. I continued to visit the
nursery for several hours at a time until I returned to work, on which day I
handed him over to his key worker and drove to work not at all worried about
how he would be treated and cared for. I was extremely confident about
leaving him, even though he was only 5 and a half months old.
He has continued to develop both
intellectually and emotionally thanks to the loving care he receives from
the staff and the activities the nursery uses to ensure the children are
stimulated and challenged. He is now in the Toddler room which offers the
same continuing care.
Had I not visited the nursery and met
the staff, in particular his key worker, I would not have returned to my
career, which I love. I could not think of anywhere I would rather have my
son whilst I am at work.
