| Lesley Forshaw
N.N.E.B.
Lesley has many years working in childcare. After qualifying Lesley worked at Fleetwood Day Nursery on Mersey Road where she gained valuable experience. After being there for 4 years Lesley became 3rd in charge. Due to the fact that the matron and deputy matron left the nursery within weeks of each other, she became acting head of the nursery until they found staff to cover. 1976-1980 In
1976 the minister of the church Lesley attended asked her if she would consider opening
a day nursery in the new annexe building of the church. On April 26th
1976 the nursery opened and was soon full to capacity of 40 children.
The nursery stayed open until the church opened a Christian School in the
church complex in 1979. Lesley worked as a teacher for 6 months in the reception
class of the school until leaving to have her children. 1981
-1989 Lesley's eldest
child started at Busy Bee Playgroup, held 3 doors away from the family home
and started to help out as a rota mum. In 1987 the lady who was then running
Busy Bee asked if Lesley if she would join the staff. In 1989 Lesley became the supervisor and
moved the group to larger premises and extended the hours of opening. Busy Bee
Pre-School became very well known in Fleetwood and is still a thriving group. 1999
- 2003 In 1999 Lesley became manager of a new nursery attached to Blackpool and the Fylde College. Whilst at college Lesley obtained her management qualification in Childcare Level 4. Lesley's role became very varied and included giving talks to childcare students and working closely with the childcare lecturers. In
February 2002 Lesley was once again asked if she would be interested in opening up a
Day Nursery for the community of Fleetwood in the church annexe where she had opened a
nursery in 1976.
The church has spent thousands of pounds in bringing the annexe up to the
standards required today. It is completely unrecognisable from the old nursery.
The inside is divided into many rooms utilising the space available to its
maximum benefit.
